A Pedestrian Comfort Survey is mandatory for larger developments in the Greater London area to evaluate if the footpaths can accommodate a rise in pedestrian traffic.
Surveys are carried out during peak periods to determine if enhancements are necessary for the footways related to your new development.
If you're planning a larger project in London, you might be asked to conduct a pedestrian comfort survey.
iRIS transport consultants will liaise with the local council to identify peak times, complete an assessment of the streets surrounding your site, develop a plan of the area, and track pedestrian foot traffic at the designated times. This data will then be processed through the Pedestrian Comfort Level calculator to assess both current and expected traffic levels.
A Pedestrian Comfort Survey may need to be conducted in conjunction with a Healthy Streets Assessment.
